The Vice Presidential
Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, has
reaffirmed his commitment to installing good governance and rescuing Nigeria
from its economic woes.
Chukwueke declared
this on Channels TV yesterday, when he spoke on APGA's desire to provide good
governance for Nigerians and introduce sound economy policies.
The Vice Presidential
candidate decried the present state of affairs in the nation which has made the
country to drop to the last as the poorest country in the world. He noted that
the difficulty experienced by Nigerians are as a direct result of poor economic
policies and wastage by government.
Chukwueke wondered at
how a country so richly blessed in human and mineral resources, could be having
such economic challenges. He regretted that the people are the ones adversely
affected by the current economic dilemma while those in government and the
political class continue to gluttonously gorge themselves with our common
patrimony.
Chief Chukwueke
condemned the level of insecurity in the country, stating clearly that the
various incidences of mass murder, armed robbery, rape, kidnapping, hunger,
lack, deprivation, oppression and molestation are strong indications that
government has failed.
He however declared
that hope is on the way as APGA is poised to remodel Nigeria's economy to serve
the people's interest first. Chukwueke noted that APGA's governance and
economic policies are deeply rooted in the total and holistic emancipation,
liberation and reorientation of the people and the establishment of an
egalitarian Nigeria.
The VP candidate noted
that a model of APGA's economic strategy exist already I Anambra State, where
despite meagre resources, the government of Chief Willie Obiano, continues to
set the pace in all facets of the economy. He observed that Anambra has become
a model for other states of the federation to emulate, extolling the virtues of
Gov Obiano who has masterfully and prudently managed the resources of the state
to provide security, infrastructural development and good governance for Ndi
Anambra. This he said, has positioned Anambra as the safest and most peaceful
state and fourth largest economy in Nigeria.
Chief Chukwueke
reiterated that it is APGA's vision to replicate this model if voted to power
in the 2019 elections. He confirmed that APGA's mission is to introduce such
economic policies that will empower the people, stabilize the economy and
introduce lasting unity and peace in the nation.
