Professor Matthew Iwuchukwu of the department of French, University of Nigeria Nsukka UNN has called on Young Minds not to allow politicians use them for the wrong reasons in the fourth coming general election.
Iwuchukwu, made these appeal as a guest speaker at the 2019 National youth round table summit held in Awka the Anambra state capital on Wednesday 24 january.
The education Guru who spoke on the topic: "Violence free election and youth inclusion in governance" lectured extensively on the need for youth to wake up and take its rightful place in the country.
He frowned at the attitude of the present politicians who have refused to retire and give youths the chance to contribute to the building of the nation. He however started that most of the old politicians who want to remain in power till they die got into government at their early thirties.
He outlined cultural, economical, sychological barriers as stumbling blocks against youths being into power.
He added by appulading His excellency Chief Willie Obian the executive governor of Anambra state for appointing the youngest commissioner in Nigeria describing him as a youth loving governor.
He encouraged Young Minds to have more interest in politics through taking advantage of the 'Not to young to run' law signed by President Muhammad Buhari.
The Varsity Don tasked INEC and the security agencies to be ontop of their game adding that both of them have a great role to play towards insuring free and fair elections
Prof Iwuchukwu insisted that Nigeria youths are not lazy but are responsible, Industrious, intelligent and hardworking.
He condernmed vote buying and hate speech among politicians emphasising that election is not a do or die affeair.
