According to the traders, the fire started from a power
surge at about 10.30 pm on Monday, destroying many stalls and goods.
They also lamented that despite the response from fire
rescues operators, the lack of access road to the market delayed the rescue
operation.
An eyewitness, Ishola Olodele said, “immediately the fire
started, we had to engage boys to use the fire extinguisher.
“When we saw that it was getting out of hand, we had to make
a call to Lagos State fire service.”
Although no life was lost in the inferno, valuables which
are yet to be quantified were lost in the fire.
