Ever since Peter Obi emerged as the vice Presidential candidate of the PDP all the attacks he has had are coming from one direction .
Not the Yoruba , Hausa/Fulani or any other ethnic group but from people of Igbo extraction.
First it was Senator Ekweremadu ; then we saw Governor Umahi and couple of Igbos complaining that they were not consulted and that his emergence did not follow due process. Later, the tension died down.
Nnamdi Kanu appeared soon after and declared that there would be no election in Igboland. That statement unsettled a lot of people and led to a heated debate within the Igbo community and among other concerned Nigerians.
As we were trying to deal with that challenge, Father Mbaka threatened Obi with electoral failure.
This is puzzling. We are the ones complaining about marginalization; we are also the same people destroying our opportunity to be included in the nation's ruling setup. Every Nigerian in this post-1999 democratic dispensation can recollect the shameful roles played by Igbo politicians the only time Igbos came close to the seat of power in the country within this time frame. Then, Senate President after Senate President was churned out as every Igbo senator tried to grab the seat for himself. The experience of Governor Peter Obi tells us that politicians from this ethnic group have not yet learned their lesson and united for the common good. We have continued to be a problem to ourselves.
