Anambra State house of Assembly legislatures has congratulated the 6th Vice Chancellor (VC) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone. The lawmakers commended the new VC on his positive transformation within two months in office.
The motion was sponsored by Member representing Anambra East Obinna Chris Emeneka, and was co-sponsored by twenty-nine other legislators. Leading the motion, Emeneka highlighted the achievement of the erudite scholar, stating that the institution has witnessed tremendous transformation within two months of his leadership.
Leading the motion, the chief sponsor in describing the VC said “Esimone is an accomplished and excelled individual. A true definition of success. A man who became professor at the age of 37. Making him the youngest professor in the university. A Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology department. The first Prof. in pharmacy. He was the pioneer Dean and until his installation as the VC, the Deputy VC Academics of Unizik. An indigene of Akwaeze in Anoacha local government area of Anambra State. Emeneka informed.
“He has published over two hundred research papers. Making him to be nominated and ranked 24th is in the list of most published scholars in Nigeria. A member of the body of Pharmaceutical association of Nigeria. A member of the governing body of Unizik. A recipient of both national and inter-national award. I am privileged to be thought by this great Icon. I will continue to testify the things I leant from him. He contributed in transforming my life as a pharmacist student. I am happy to the glory of God in leading this motion.
“In two months of leadership, he has come up with an “online schedule application” were people book appointment with him. This notifies him on the persons that wants to see him. He also developed an application were he gets feedback from student as regards the performance of lectures and how they relate to students. Putting to an end victimization and incompetency of lecturers. This has given students a platform to express their selves freely without disclosing their identity. Were him as a VC, set up his panel to investigate. He has deployed CCTV cameras during exams in other to curtail exam malpractice. This will reduce half baked graduates. A man with quality and intimidating credentials. The election of Esimone as the VC, was the most credible and most peaceful in the history of the institution.

Member representing Njikoka 2, Pete Ibida. Member representing Onitsha South 1, Innocent Eli. Member representing Anocha 2 Ejike Okechukwu, while supporting the motion, lauded the number one student of Unizik, describing him as a worthy son of Anambra.
Commending the mover of the motion, Deputy Speaker, Pascal Agbodike, Member representing Ihiala 2 constituency who presided plenary added by saying “I am not surprised why Ndi-Anambra are been envied. We are prosperous and best in our entire endeavor. Both in governance, security, academics, land and air transport. It is a thing of honour to give honour to whom its duo.
