GOV. Willie Obiano IS TRULY A LEADER TO BEHOLD INDEED.
Let me give you a brief run down of how it all started.
The above caption was initiated by the Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Agriculture, Hon Obioma Mbanefo.
The idea was to keep our young ones abreast with the basic knowledge of what the State Government is doing in the AGRO Sector.
In the past 4 years+, The State Government have recorded tremendous successes in this particular sector. The Anambra Rice, the Vegetable Exports, the IFAD Value Chain Programme that took me to Nairobi- Kenya in March this year, the FADAMA Programme, etc.
Now, there is a saying that, knowledge is transient. Thus, if you stop reading or aspiring to know more, then, you stop learning, and ones you stop learning, you are bound to be uninformed and that will obviously leave you deformed. It is that simple. Then, over time, you will start living the past.
That singular thought, propelled an idea that could be simply tagged "THINKING OUT OF THE BOX".
Away from that, just yesterday, His Excellency welcomed the Anambra State nominees of the President Barak Obama Leadership Fellows that are between ages of 25~40 years. These are GREAT MINDS from Anambra State that are doing great things in life. I shall revisit this on another day but there is one striking statement that the Governor made in his speech that got me up. He dared the young Obama Leaders to do extraordinary things. He emphatically said that, he loves young ones who "...think out of the box..." to doing things in a manner that hasn't been for before. He assured that his administration would continue to support this any initiative spurs the younger ones to become problem solvers.
Back to the issue at hand, this "AGRO QUIZ TEST" will become the next big thing. Yesterday, the State Ministry of Agriculture under the leadership of the Digital Commissioner in Nigeria Hon. Afam Mbanefo, through this mechanism called "AGRO QUIZ TEST ~ GREEN Week" which incidentally, is the first of its kind in Anambra State, gave out 25kg's of rice to lucky winners in the last month quiz exercise. The exercise according him, shall be monthly and would be posted on the Ministry's Facebook wall.
In his speech, the Commissioner commended the initiator of the exercise and a young man he always calls the vibrant "SA" Hon. Mbanefo Obioma for the wonderful thought. He implored him to improve on it and draw the attention of those who thought that it was a joke. He encouraged winners to keep it up help tell the society out there, that something different is now happening in the State Ministry of Agriculture.
On a personal note, I am really elated that Governor Willie Obiano without knowing it, has awakened the minds of our youths by not just getting them involved in his government, but also, giving them the latitude to think beyond borders. For me, that's a leadership that is quite sustaining. Let me leave it here for now and say a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the winners.
