Experts have advocated that nursing mothers make themselves available for Family planningThis is to ensure proper child spacing and safe parenting for couples of child bearing age and their families. To find out the processes and response of Mothers towards accessing Family Planning services in Nibo Community, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Kpakpando FM Mbaukwu crew visited Nibo Maternal and Child Health Center, Nibo where the Deputy Child Health Officer, Mrs.
Ifeoma Okafor was in action educating nursing mothers on the benefit of Family planning. Upsot.Mrs. Okafor frowned at the non-chalant attitude of couples towards Family Planning, attributing it to the initial low number of Family planning clients in the center. She however expressed satisfaction in the uptake of Family Planning services at the PHC, which according to her is as a result of last year’s Covid 19 lockdown. Some of the women spoken to complained about the side effects of some Family planning methods saying that it discouraged them from accessing such services.
Narrating her experience, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Maryann Agbaogu said Family Planning helped her in spacing her babies, planning her home and ensuring good health for her and her Children and solicited the support of men for their wives while accessing Family planning services. She hinted that the side effects of Family Planning methods can be overcome by consulting professionals.
