Journalism refers to the production and distribution of reports on recent events through gathering information and using literary techniques. been the watch dog of the society and the fourth estate of the realm, it is considered as a noble profession with many departments.
This
profession which has a litany of great men and women in this country including
veterans also have young, upcoming and bright hands with prospect. Notable
among these young talents is an Awka based journalist, Ifeanyi Okonkwo
(Celebrity Journalist)
Born
in the city of Jos, Plateau State to the family of Sir Gabriel and Mrs Caroline
Okonkwo, hails from Abacha a community in Idemili North Local government in
Anambra state.
A
graduate of mass communication Anambra State University (ANSU) now Chukwuemeka
Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)
The
last born among six children in an interview recently with journalist disclosed
how the journey all began.
'I
started practising journalism officially in 2015 with Reality Newspapers a Jos
based organization owned by Valentine Adese (JP) when I left the University.
'After
my youth service, in Delta statr, my organization posted me to Anambra as a
correspondence. While reporting for Reality Newspaper I was also writing as a
contributor to National Light Newspaper before I became one of its Ad-hoc
staff.
'My
vision as to why I choose to venture into journalism is simple, I want to make
a name for myself. Someone has to do things differently and I made a choice to
be that person by putting in my best.
'My
ambition is to change the game and raise the standard. The bottom is too
crowded that's why I have decided to fly and be on top of the system. Great
things are achieved and accomplished by the power of perseverance and that's
why I have develop a thick skin.
'I
was born into the best family anyone will ever pray for. My father is a
catechist and my mother is one of the most religious women I have ever seen
both in faith and practice. Her prayers keeps me going.
'My
parents created a fantastic piller in me and also a resilience spirit, that's
why i work hard.
'Nigerians
have a mentality that journalist end up being poor but am ready to break that
norm because I believe and know that I have the potential to dear the
impossible.
'My
capacity to set priorities and execute responsibility has remained my driving
force. And not far from now the whole world will hear my name.
