The newly appointed President General (PG) of Nando community, Anthony Marychukwudozie Amali, has assured Ndi Nando that the era were few individual highjack the government of its community is over promising that adequate consultation will be done before certain decisions will be taking.
Amali in an interview in Awka disclosed reasons that lead to his appointed as the PG. According to him “petitions were written to the state government against the formal administration by the villages in Nando which was mostly on security challenges and un-authorized salling of their lands. The state government who was fair, invited the former PG for fair hearing and questioning after which he was cautioned. Unfortunately, it continued. It got to the extent of youths fighting against themselves.
“The government of Anambra state who wanted peace to return at all cost, decided to dissolve the appointment and appointed a care taker committee of which I was the chairman. With effect of August 7th, we were giving the mandate to administer the affairs of Nando in the next three years.
On his plans for Nando community, Amali said “On the letter giving to us on resumption, there were terms and conditions which bringing back peace to the community is top of the agenda and to reconcile all aggrieved people and groups in other to bring back peace so as to enjoy the dividend of democracy. We have been mandated to unite all fractions and to set up structures that will bring about credible election within the three months of our administration.
Amila, who is not new to the leadership of Nando, is currently the chairman Nando Development Awka branch and have been involved in community leadership for a long time.
The new PG expressed appreciation to the Member representing Anambra East constituency Obinna Chris Emeneka for his availability, sincerity and the role he has been playing in Nando through making sure that the community to taking the next level. His passion for his people is beyond immeasurable.
“The government of Governor Willie Obiano has help our community tremendously through appointing our people into government. He has constructed several roads including the once leading to Omor including the one leading to Igbariam and the one leading to Achalla.
“We will do everything within our possible best in making sure we support the government of Anambra State. Governor Obiano has shown a lot of dividend of democracy to our community and we cannot thank him enough because he still have the intention to do more. We will provide conducive environment for him.
“We have benefitted in the community choose your project twice with twenty million two times and we are ready for the third phase. We will carry everybody along. The area of two people holding the community to ransom is over. This government will be for everybody. We shall engage wider consultation. The community decisions will be taken by everybody.
“My committee has started what we call elder council which comprise of people from 65 – 85 years. We also have advisory council which will be people from 65 – 75 years which cut across seasoned administrators. So that we will have imputes from experience people.
